May we introduce you...
... to this year's language school students. They are responsible for the special atmosphere on our campus. Although individuals from different parts of the world, they are united by the aim to learn German. We are glad to have them and they want to introduce themselves to you as well. Enjoy!
Kyle Collatz, 16, from Baroda, Michigan, is a student at Andrews Academy. He says that if he had to choose a favorite food, it would definitely be something with sugar or caffeine! Kyle enjoys spending his free time playing with cards, juggling and playing games on the computer. Kyle, who comes from a large family, says that one of his favorite reasons for studying at Bogenhofen is the lack of little siblings running around. Kyle, who came to Bogenhofen primarily to learn German, says that the one place he would most like to visit is Burj, Dubai. His favorite quote is by Abraham Lincoln, "Whatever you are, be a good one" -Abraham Lincoln.
Kate Janette Amelia Reeves, also known as "Puddel Duck" by her parents, is from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska; majoring in Biology. Her favorite food is peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and apple juice. Kate enjoys reading, cleaning and sewing. Kate says that her favorite part about getting to study at Bogi is getting to learn a new language and learning about another culture. Kate came to study here because she thought it would be a good experience and it would be a great way to "broaden her horizons".
Layna Schantal Estefani Moreira, 18, also known by her German name "Günter", is an International Business major from Union College. God, family and friends hold a very important place in her heart. Layna says that she enjoys travelling, fußballtisch, telling bunny jokes, riding the escalator and candlelit dinners at I-HOP. As for food, she claims to love all sorts of food but her grandmother's cooking, pineapple and chocolate are on the top of her list. She is now studying at Bogi for the experience, the fullfillment of a dream, and the long list of places she will be able to visit this next year. She plans on visiting one of the soccer stadiums where the World Cup of 2006 took place, and England/France/Italy/Greece. She misses her homies, her mom, Starbucks and 24-7 hour access to the internet. One of her favorite quotes is: ''The past are memories, the Future are fantasies, the present is all we have.'' -Snow Cake Movie.
Ben Speegle, from Longview, Washington, is a 19-year old college sophomore. His home university is Pacific Union College, in Angwin, California, where he is studying Journalism. Ben's hobbies include playing sports and traveling. His favorite part about studying in Europe is that he has the ability to travel, especially from so central a location as Bogenhofen, in Austria. He is looking to gain a German minor from his studies at Bogi. Ben loves all kinds of food and the opportunity to try foods he has not yet experienced. The one place he most wishes to visit in Europe is Prague, in the Czech Republic. Ben's favorite quote is, "Be the change you want to see in the world." -Mahatma Ghandi.
Aaron Speegle, 20, also from Longview, Washington, is from Southen Adventist University; he is majoring in General Studies. Aaron says that his favorite food is waffles. His hobbies include music and sports. Aaron says that he misses his friends from college, his family, and Taco Bell. Aaron says that he came to study at Bogenhofen partly due to his German heritage and also because he wanted to travel around Europe. The place he most wants to visit is Transylvania.
Giselle-Annette Wisdom, 24, a transfer student from Walla Walla University, lives in Baja California. Giselle says that she misses her family, especially her little brother Andrew (currently in Navy boot camp), and her many pets and friends. Giselle is a Creative Writing and Communications major and is studying German because her grandparents were German. Giselle also has Welsh and Mexican heritage. She says that her hobbies include reading, writing, spending time outdoors, and constantly being active. Giselle says that what she misses most from the U.S. is wireless internet, sloppy burgers, tacos and 24-hour grocery stores. Giselle´s motto is: "I will not let the sun set on tomorrow, before it has arisen today."
Alexej Muran, also known as Alek, is originally from Bratislava, Slovakia. He has studied at Southwestern University in Texas, Roosevelt University in Chicago, and Andrews University in Michigan. Alexej says that his favorite food is mango fruit. Alexej´s hobbies include mountain climbing, travelling, music, and reading. His favorite part about studying at Bogenhofen is being able to travel home after being away for 9 years. His favorite quote is, “…The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” –Moses.
Carissa Typaldos, from Berrien Springs, Michigan, is an English Literature major from Andrews University. Carissa is studying German at Bogenhofen to complete a German minor through Andrews University, and for the experience of living in another country and learning a new language. She says that her hobbies include listening to awesome music, playing “kicka”, hanging out with her friends and meeting new people. Carissa misses her family, especially her sister Annie. She says that her favorite part about living in Austria is all the delicious chocolate (Milka!) and bakeries. Carissa is excited about travelling to Italy and Greece during Christmas break.
