A First in History...
...was the first concert of the Bogenhofen school orchestra last night. Thanks to the initiative von Luise Schneeweiß, violinist and orchestra director since September 2007, the ten member ensemble for the first time did not just accompany the choir or played in church in Sabbath morning but performed music from the baroque and classical periods one entire evening on its own.
Among other pieces there were movements from a concert for recorder and strings by G. Sammartini with Yasmin Blumberger as soloist, also movements from the Concerto grosso in G major by G.F. Händel with Miryam Boucher, flute, two movements from "winter" of the Four Seasons by Vivaldi and then as the crowning event the concert for piano and orchestra in D major by Joseph Haydn with Stefan Serena at our Steinway Grand. The large audience that had come out to listen to this concert gave excited applause and hopes for another event such as this in the near future...
