Schedule
The summer course makes for a busy schedule because of the many offers of cultural tours in a rather short period in order to allow for as much cultural immersion as possible. Even though we may vary the following schedule at times it will help you to get an idea of the activities during the summer course. It is your personal choice to decide what activities you would like to participate in. Class attendance is required. The official trips are part of the program and cannot be reimbursed should you choose not to take part for whatever reason.
Monday through Friday have the following basic schedule
8am breakfast
8:25 to 12:35 or 13.25 classes except for:
9:15 – 9:45 worship in easy German and announcements of planned activities
1pm to 1:40 pm lunch
Afternoon activities like sports, swimming, canoeing, going to Braunau, business German and/or homework, Friday afternoons are generally left free for personal needs and interests. You are able to go to the nearby city of Braunau on your own by train in the afternoons but we do recommend that the younger students leave campus in small groups if they have the permission of their parents to do so.
6pm supper
7.30pm evening activities like conversation, sports, games, films or any individual activities
Exceptions: there are 2 full day excursions on weekdays which will not follow this schedule. Details are announced during the course.
During Summer Course the weekends are very interesting:
Friday evening
We offer a special vesper service in easy German for the summer course students
Sabbath
9:30 Sabbath school
10:30 Church service
1pm lunch
We then offer at no extra cost to the students the possibility of guided afternoon outings like Burghausen, Villa Romana, Ibmer Moor, Mattsee or invitations of families or church members. Detailed announcements are usually given during the worship break on Friday morning.
6 pm supper
Most Sabbath evenings it is possible to socialize or play games in the “Saftladen”, our special place for social activities with the possibility to have drinks or ice cream at cost value.
Sunday
Sunday is likely to be the busiest and the most interesting day of the summer program. Most Sundays are full day excursions starting early in the morning and coming home late. The tours take you to a choice of places from the following list: Vienna, Salzburg, Chiemsee, Hallstatt and its salt mine, the medieval city of Rothenburg and Nuremberg, Neuschwanstein, Munich, a majestic ice cave, Mauthausen – a concentration camp. For details see the summer course section on cultural tours.
End of the summer program
The course ends usually on a Thursday morning with a short assembly where the copies of the transcripts are handed out. You are free to leave any time after lunch on Thursday or any time on Friday. We offer transportation to the airports of Salzburg or Munich which should be arranged ahead of time.
