Summer program and cultural trips
Full day excursions
Each Sunday and 2 or 3 times on a weekday we go on exciting trips to the following places. The trips don’t necessarily take place in this order.
Salzburg
Not even 1 hour from Bogenhofen you find the beautiful city where Mozart was born.
On top of a mountain is the castle Hohensalzburg and in the city centre Schloss Mirabell and not to forget Schloss Hellbrunn with its famous water games.
Vienna
Vienna, the Austrian capital, is an overwhelming experience with Schönbrunn and the life of Sissi and the gigantic Stephansdom with its beautiful view from the top.
Neuschwanstein
King Ludwig II was a great nature-lover. His greatest concern was not to spoil the beauty of the surroundings by building Neuschwanstein Castle, and he gave the builders precise instructions to this effect. As you approach the castle, it becomes clear just how well they succeeded. The view of Neuschwanstein Castle from the bridge behind it, the Marienbrücke, is particularly impressive and the views from the castle's many windows are like framed landscape paintings. Burghausen
Burghausen is the longest fortress in Europe. In summer there is a medieval festival with costumes and old trades which is a lot of fun.
Hallstatt salt mine
The World inheritance village Hallstatt is situated in a breath-taking landscape surrounding the charming village along "the most beautiful lake of the world" (Alexander von Humboldt). The architectural styles of the Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque periods up to modern day make Hallstatt unique. For more information and pictures see www.hallstatt.net
Rothenburg
Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a pittoresque medieval town . Besides the fascinating architecture it offers many special attractions such as a medieval crime museum, a doll and toy museum, a Christmas museum, a famous Riemenschneider Altar and craft houses.

Eisriesenwelt Werfen (Ice caving) and Burg Hohenwerfen

Chiemsee
Herrenchiemsee New Palace of King Ludwig II, was intended more as a monument to absolutist monarchy than an inhabitable palace. It is located on an island in the Chiemsee.
Afternoon trips on a weekday (maximum one a week)
Braunau
The closest city to Bogenhofen is Braunau, with a beautiful, typically Austrian city centre. You can get to Braunau by train. (5 minutes from Bogenhofen)
Mauthausen
Mauthausen is a concentration camp with an extensive information center. It is a sad place but historically very important and informative.
Passau
Passau is the city where three rivers meet. It also has a beautiful cathedral with Europe's largest organ. In the evening we are going to enjoy an organ concert. More information under: www.passau.de
Therme Geinberg (Spa)
In the area around Bogenhofen you find hot springs and spas. We are going to relax on the carribean beach in the spa at Geinberg one evening . More information under www.thermegeinberg.at
Obernberg
For those who enjoy birds of prey the falcon show at Obernberg will be of much interest.
Sabbath outings
On Sabbath afternoons we go to interesting places nearby, such as
- Bicycle tour in the area or visit with local families
- Mattsee or Attersee– a beautiful lake in the area
- Ibmer Moor – an interesting marshy soil area
- Villa Romanica - the remainders of a Roman city
- Mondsee or Wolfgangsee
